Now that I have had a week to digest my hunt at North Mountain Wild Elk Ranch I would like to share my thoughts with you. First the lodging was terrific, just like some of the western elk camps I had been to in the past.
Great atmosphere. The food prepared by Uncle Charlie was delicious and abundant. The guides and Uncle Charlie could not do enough for the guests in camp. The butcher you set me up with was great, all processing done when promised, shrink sealed, labeled, and flash frozen to order. I saved the best for last, the hunt, This was much more challenging than I had expected, I came in with the feeling this was probably not going to be much of a hunt based on other operations I am aware of by talking to my clients. I could not have been more wrong. The insistence of my guide , Duke, that scent lock suits were a must for bow hunting took me by surprise but I came prepared with 2 sets. The animals were elusive and spooky, when they saw or scented us first, which was most of the time, all we saw was their back end as they headed for safer cover. We were not "tripping" over animals and had to use our best whitetail hunting skills to even get a good look with enough time to evaluate a bull. In fact we were unable to get an opportunity at all the first day. We finally got a chance to take a great herd bull during the afternoon of the second day in the rain while he tried to round up about 10-12 cows that had spotted us, fortunately he had the cows on his mind which gave me a chance to take him with a rifle, I do not like to take a shot with a bow in the rain, I know Duke wanted me to not attempt a rifle shot until the last day, but he was just too nice a bull to pass on. The whole experience was fantastic, and I hope you keep things running this way.
You have a tremendous area of land to hunt, beautifully wooded mountains and valleys with tons of room. I will not hesitate to recommend your hunts to my clients as they look at the shoulder mount of this great bull when they enter my studio. One more word about the guides, great. Thank you for taking the time to read this long winded letter, but I did not want to leave out any aspect of the hunt. Sincerely, Vince Volz Jr. (owner) Hap's Taxidermy

Dear Bob, Harold, Duke, Bill, and Pat,

Many thanks again for the best hunting adventure I've had in 31 years! Bob, your recommendations throughout my entire experience from my arrival in Wellsboro, PA to my departure were right on target. Duke was superb as a guide! Harold, Duke, Bill, and Pat were so helpful and made me feel like family. I must admit, "the 5x5 helped also."

Feel free to use me as a reference. I'll be staying in touch in the years to come! Remember, if you come toward Orlando, Florida, look me up and I'll take you large mouth bass fishing for the "lunker."

Sincerely,

Lt. Colonel Stephen P. Boyer, USAF (Ret.)

Wildelkranch,

I've been fortunate to have hunted all my life and this simply is as
much fun as I've ever had hunting. What an amazing experience-
from the terrain hunted in, to the amazing animals, to the incredibly
helpful staff it was awesome! In fact, my guide was so much fun it
was simply like going out and hunting with your best buddy. I can't
wait to come back!

I just wanted to take a minute here and reach out
to say "Thank You" for working with me for the past
few months to pull off what I really think was the
trip of a life time for my Dad and I.

I have to tell you for him, and me, it's just
starting to sink in what took place over the past few days.

When I dropped him off in Pa. yesterday and he
starting calling my brothers and sisters-he was so
"jacked up" that my sister sent me a note saying
she had not heard him sound so young in years...I
called my brother in Ca. to tell him how things went and
he said he had already heard from my Dad!

As for me, I lead a large team of people for my
company and I have to tell you the "team" you have
assembled is one to be proud of. Our guides Josh
and Dewey were awesome...accomodating, professional,
not pushy and down right cool when it came to the
experience. I got a chnace to talk with Billy and
Duke as well and those guys are top notch.

I think the icing on the cake of your team is YOUR
Dad, Uncle Charlie, he was phenominal...at one
point I thought he and my Dad were going to start showing
each other old scars they got along so well.

Well, today we are back in the "real world" but I have
to tell you...having planned and taken the trip to
North Mtn Wild Elk Ranch makes it a whole lot
easier.

Please share this note with the guides and your
Dad...and feel free to use me as a reference
anytime.

I am already beginning to think how we might get
back there soon...with my brothers this time!

Take care,

Anthony D. C. Jr.

Hi,
Just a quick note to say hello and introduce ourselves to you.... our names are Quinn & Debbie H.... just got back from our elk hunt at the North Mountain Wild Elk Ranch.... they sent us an e-mail asking us to give you a buzz regarding our hunt.... we did try to call, however, for some reason the call would not go through.... so please give us a call this evening.... I have to tell you that we had a grand time up there.... we have been on "canned hunts", as we call them, in the past, but this was definitely NOT a "canned hunt".... these elk are wild.... and the closest thing we can compare it to is hunting for white tail deer in the woods.... it took us 2-1/2 days to get a bull and it is definitely a challenge.... we had a great time.... accommodations were excellent... the food was excellent.... the place is huge and the people are a delight.... we would recommend North Mountain Wild Elk Ranch whole-heartedly to anyone with apprehensions.... and we'll be glad to chat with you about our experience, so please give us a buzz....
If you would, please reply to this e-mail so that I know you received it... and ask any questions you so desire..... I'll answer to the best of my ability.... I can also send some pictures if you would like.... just let me know....
Have a wonderful day and we'll be looking forward to hearing from you ASAP....
Debbie

Subject: RE: Your Elk Hunt BOB---YOUR PEOPLE, THE FACILITIES, AND THE HUNT ALL EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS. THE MEALS WERE 5 STAR! I HAVE SOME GREAT MEMORIES TO HOLD ME OVER UNTIL I CAN VISIT THE RANCH AGAIN. USE ME FOR A REFERENCE ANYTIME! JIM
"First, we would like to thank you for a most
enjoyable and successful elk hunt.
Next, we would like you to know we have been on
big game hunts in Wyoming, Montana, Colorado and
New Mexico; none of them compare to our experience
at North Mountain Wild Elk Ranch.
As you know, we had many skeptical fellow
hunters when we advised them we were going to hunt
with you. But fence or no fence, your free roaming
elk can and will provide a challenge for even the
most experienced hunters. Your elk herd, lodge
facilities, the young guide you assigned to us, the
menu and food preparation are all five star..."

"I'm writing this letter on a Tuesday and the
smile is still on my face. What a terrific
experience I had thanks to you.
I've been dreaming of an elk hunt ever since
I've been a teenager and I couldn't have designed
a hunt any better than the one I had at your North
Mountain, Wild Elk Ranch.
Along with you, my guide, Chuck, and your dad
delivered everything you promised and more. I
thank all of you for the hunt of a lifetime..."
